Thumbs up during seatbelt and booster seat checks at a Banbury school

09/06/2021

Most drivers and passengers in vehicles were seated and belted correctly

It was a thumbs up for the majority of parents during a spot check to make sure people were following the rules and wearing seatbelts at a Banbury school yesterday.

Officers from Thames Valley Police’s Roads Policing team were at Orchard Fields Community School on Bretch Hill on Tuesday morning.   As part of the #StandingUpForBeltingUp campaign during what is Child Safety Week, spot checks are taking place to ensure drivers and passengers are correctly wearing seat belts.

Where a child under 135cm tall is travelling in the car parents must use a child seat or booster and this was also examined.

Officers were pleased to see the majority of people were following the rules correctly.   Writing on social media they said: “Most drivers and their passengers were wearing a seat belt today.

“Some children should still be in a child seat or booster seat if under 135cm.

“Lots of positive engagement, education and some enforcement.”
