Secondary school application process opens in Oxfordshire
12/09/2023
The advice is to name four schools, not just the main number one choice
Parents and carers of youngsters who will be heading off to secondary education next September can now apply for their choice of school for year 7.
Oxfordshire County Council has today opened the online applications system, with a deadline of October 31 for all applications to be made.
Whilst some parents may only have one school in mind for their child, they are being urged to name four on the application.
Councillor Liz Brighouse, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Youth Services, said: “This will not make it less likely that your first preference will be offered. But it does reduce the risk of all preferences being unsuccessful and children being allocated a place at a school that is not named on their list.”
Councillor Brighouse added: “It is important to apply on time as late applications will be processed later in the year and are far less likely to secure places at preferred schools.”
Applications can be submitted here.
Parents and carers will be contacted with the result of their application on national offer day, March 1, 2024.
