Hatwell’s funfair returns
24/06/2021
All the fun of the fair back in Princess Diana Park from tonight
A taste of life before lockdown returns to Banbury tonight with the arrival of Hatwell’s Funfair. For four days all the fun of the fair will be available in Princess Diana Park.
Hatwell’s have been bringing funfairs to Banbury for over 40 years, but were last in town at the Christmas Light’s switch-on event in 2019.
Attractions to enjoy include twisters, bumper cars, bungee trampolines, bouncy castles and a funhouse.
Organiser Kerry Williams, a member of the Hatwell’s family, said: “We’re not a massive fair but there’s enough here to keep families entertained.”
Given the COVID situation a number of safety measure will be in place including monitoring numbers, a one-way queuing system and extra room between the attractions so people can spread out. There will also be single-use tokens available to pay with, so people can avoid handling cash.
All the usual food stalls you would expect at a fair will be there. Kerry said: “We’ve got all the normal things: burgers, hot dogs, candyfloss, sweets and doughnuts. We might even have some toffee apples!”
In appreciation of their work during the pandemic the organisers are offering free rides for anyone who works for the NHS, as long as they show their NHS ID badge.
The funfair runs today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) from 5pm to 9.30pm, from 1pm to 9.30pm on Saturday and 1pm to 7pm on Sunday.
