Fire fighters from Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire have been battling the fire

Fire fighters have been tackling a major blaze at Greenacres Farm on the A422 between Farthinghoe and Brackley.

Five fire appliances from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and two from Oxfordshire have been at the scene, alongside an aerial appliance, two water bowsers and a high-volume pump.    They were called at 10.36 this morning.

The A422 between Brackley West and Farthinghoe has been closed whilst the fire is dealt with.   Its expected to remain shut for some time yet.

At just before 4pm NFRS told Banbury FM they were still working to extinguish the fire with three crews still at the scene.   They expected to be scaling back operations within the next hour.

The fire has created a large amount of smoke and so people are being encouraged to keep their windows and doors shut, especially towards Brackley, where the smoke plume has been drifting.

At least 8 small business owners lost their premises today in this massive fire. Including me. I’ve maintained an art studio at Green Acres Farm in Farthinghoe for over 23 years and I have most likely lost all of my original artwork, most likely the painting. A very sad day.

yes Wayne. We’re in the same boat. Are businesses are our creativity. How to replace projects in progress, unique work that is not reproducible? I can’t bear to think about it.
