Bodfest committee calls it a day
20/10/2023
The popular one-day festival started as a Millennium celebration in Bodicote
The popular one-day music festival Bodfest will not be returning. The Committee behind the event has dissolved their organisation.
In a statement they said that Bodfest had become so popular that the small number of volunteers struggled to provide a safe event. Professional assistance had been needed to comply with safety rules and the Committee had spent many hours of their own time getting the event up and running.
The last Bodfest festival was held in Kingsfield in 2022, returning after an enforced break during the pandemic. This year’s event was cancelled after a number of the organising committee stepped down.
The remaining Committee members decided to wind up the organisation at their recent AGM. Whilst the residual Bodfest funds will be transferred to Bodicote Parish Council, the outgoing committee have asked suggested that this could be made available to “any group wishing to volunteer and move things forward”.
Bodfest’s routes date back to 1998 when a group started organising a one-off village festival to mark the millennium. Through the years Bodfest evolved, spending a number of years at Banbury Rugby Club.
A return was made to Kingsfield in 2018 when the festival celebrated its 18th Birthday.
A spokesperson for the Bodfest Committee said: “Many thanks for your support in recent years from ALL of us. We have enjoyed giving much of our time in providing fun for all.”
