Discarded smoking materials may have caused A43 verge fire
05/08/2021
5 metre blaze at Brackley could have been caused by a careless smoker
Discarded smoking materials are thought to have resulted in a verge blaze on the A43 at Brackley yesterday afternoon.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue were called to the fire just after 2pm.
When the fire crew arrived they discovered grass had caught light and spread around 5 metres along the verge.
They’ve issued a reminder that dry grasses and discarded litter can create perfect conditions for wildfires.
They ask that smokers dispose of cigarette ends carefully.
