Calls to deal with fire in roof of empty building

Fire crews from four stations dealt with a blaze at a derelict building in Banbury yesterday evening.

At just after 5pm Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue were called to the fire at a property in Lower Cherwell Street.

Firefighters extinguished the flames in the roof of the building using hose reel jets and wearing breathing apparatus.

Crews from Banbury, Hook Norton, Charlbury and Bicester attended the incident.   They left the scene at 8pm. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
