Using the latest kit its hoped the new service will reduce waiting times
Anyone needing a blood test can now take advantage of a new Phlebotomy Service on board a converted bus at the Horton General Hospital.
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) has converted the vehicle, which is parked behind the Rowan Day Unit.
It contains the latest blood test equipment and can offer routine blood test appointments for patients over 16 years old, blood tests for patients urgently referred by their GP and those who have had a virtual appointment and now require a blood test.
People preferring not to have their blood test in hospital can book an appointment to use the Phlebotomy Bus online.
David Walliker, Chief Digital and Partnership Officer at OUH, said: “This is great news for our phlebotomy patients. The bus is fully equipped with all the equipment needed for the appointments and will help us reduce waiting times for this type of treatment.”
