Coordinator needed to keep surplus food heading to local charities
27/10/2021
The volunteer role takes 2-3 hours per week
Are you a person who hates food waste and with a few hours to spare each week? A local group which delivers surplus supermarket food to more than a dozen charities is looking for someone to take on a coordinator’s role.
Banbury Food for Charities began their work in 2014. Volunteers collect supplies from eight of Banbury’s supermarkets and then deliver it to more than a dozen charities that support people in need.
These volunteers are overseen by a coordinator. The lady who has been undertaking the role is now retiring and so the group are looking for her replacement.
The work takes 2-3 hours per week and involves running the volunteer rota, keeping in touch with the charities and supermarkets, and keeping the minimal accounts. There’s also a small amount of work completing an annual return for the Charity Commission using previous reports as a template.
The role would suit someone organised and enthusiastic, who ideally is competent at social media. For more information, please ring Riki Therivel on 07759 135811 or email riki@phonecoop.coop.
