HSBC reopens as a Digital Service Branch

Bank confirms its commitment to being here for the people of Banbury
After a 4-week refurbishment, the Banbury branch of the HSBC UK bank has reopened. Councillor Kieron Mallon, the leader of the Banbury Town Council, cut the ribbon and declared the branch back open yesterday morning (October 28).
The upgrade sees the branch move to being a Digital Service Branch with state-of-the-art self-service machines.
An area has been created that could be used for customer seminars and the bank is assuring customers that staff will still be available in the banking hall for those who are less confident using the new technology.
Sharon Hoare, HSBC UK’s Local Director, said: “Whilst we are investing in our branch network nationally as well as in Banbury, the overall direction of travel for customer behaviour is quite clear – customers are becoming more comfortable primarily using online and mobile banking to take control of their finances, turning to other channels for very particular interactions. That could be to get face-to-face advice, when they have a complex financial issue, or if they want to discuss how a major life event will affect their finances, whether that is an expected new addition to the family or a bereavement. Whichever their preference, we are there for them in Banbury.
“We are very conscious that there will be some customers who are less confident using self-service options, and we would like to assure them that we will not be leaving any of our customers high and dry. Our branch staff will continue to be on hand to help in the banking hall rather than behind a screen, to explain and also to educate customers on how to complete their transaction.
“It is also important to note that customers can complete day-to-day transactions at their local Post Office, which may be even more convenient for them than a trip to the branch.”
Councillor Mallon was joined at the opening by Councillor George Ayers and community champion Prabhu Natarajan, alongside a number of branch staff and HSBC managers.

So much for customer service! How can we pay cash in to non-personal accounts?

The Post office is convenient but their queues seldom are. Is there still a machine to pay in cash?
