Officers suspected the drivers abilities were impaired
A driver tried to escape from the police yesterday (Tuesday) by abandoning their vehicle and jumping into the Oxford canal.
Officers had tried to stop the vehicle during the evening after they suspected the driver’s abilities were impaired.
Initially the request to stop was ignored, but subsequently the driver exited the vehicle and tried to get away from Police by entering the canal.
He gave up shortly afterwards and was arrested for failing to stop and for dangerous driving.
