Gun found in stopped car in Banbury

Police believed driver to be wanted for firearms offences, serious assault and drugs

Two people have been arrested after a gun was found in a car stopped by police in Banbury during the early hours of this morning.   The firearm was found in the car’s glove compartment.

An operational patrol unit vehicle from Warwickshire Police performed an armed stop on the black BMW just of the M40.   They had information to say the driver was wanted for firearms offences, serious assault and drugs.

After the stop a black handgun was found inside the glove box.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested.
