Local schools and the hospital children’s ward had decorated the reindeer

Five-year-old Poppy has been announced as the winner of Banbury BID’s Reindeer Trail.   Poppy’s entry was randomly selected from over 350 submissions for the Christmas competition.

Her prize is a brand new iPad, which she received from Town Liaison, Ollie Phipps.

The trail featured ten reindeer hidden in different town centre businesses.   Each one had been brought to life thanks to the artistic talents of nine local schools: St John’s Roman Catholic School, Hardwick Primary, Harriers, St Leonard’s, Christopher Rawlins, Longford Park, St Joseph’s, Bishop Loveday, Hill View and Cherryfields.   The tenth reindeer was decorated by youngsters in the Children’s Ward at the Horton General Hospital.

Shoppers of all ages were encouraged to explore the town centre, searching for the hidden animals and noting their names on a trail sheet.

As well as an adventure for families the trail also offered an opportunity to discover the businesses where the reindeer were hidden, including Nothing But Footprints, Lock29, Pavement Cafe, Spiceball Leisure Centre, The Range, Banbury Shoe Repairs, Walford and Round, Sweet Celebrations, Union Menswear and Banbury Bridal.

A spokesperson for Banbury BID said: “Banbury BID is proud to have organised such a memorable event that brought the community together and showcased the vibrant spirit of Banbury during the festive season.   We look forward to continuing to create joyful experiences for the residents and visitors of Banbury in the future.”
