Children’s mental health charity to benefit from Sunday run
19/11/2021
The Young Minds Trust provides young people with tools to help them look after their mental health
A group of runners are setting off on a 14 kilometre fun run this Sunday, passing 5 pubs along the way, raising money for the Young Minds Trust. They will be dressed in yellow, which is the trust’s colour.
The group are hoping to raise money and awareness for Young Minds which is a charity that provides young people with tools to look after their mental health.
Cherwell District Councillor Perran Moon has organised the initiative. He said: “There’s a pandemic of mental health issues in young people at the moment.
“A quarter of 17-year-old girls have self-harmed in the last year. The biggest killer of boys and young men is their own suicide.
“That’s why we are trying to raise both some awareness and money for Young Minds – the mental health charity.”
The route starting point is the Wykham Arms in Sibford Gower and it then takes in Blaze Inn Saddles in Sibford Ferris, the Gate Hangs High outside Hook Norton, The Lampet in Tadmarton and the Stags Head in Swalcliffe, before returning to Sibford Gower.
The challenge will begin at 11.45 and anyone who fancies joining in can simply turn up. Those wishing to donate can do so here.
