Brackley Town Council seeks views on budget

23/12/2021

A 3 per cent increase in the Town Council’s element of the Council Tax is currently anticipated

Brackley Town Council is asking for people’s views on their draft budget for 2022 to 2023.   Councillors agreed the proposed financial plans at their meeting on Monday evening (December 20).

A 3 per cent increase in the Brackley Town Council element of the Council Tax is currently anticipated – which amounts to an increase of £4.48 per year for a Band D property.

The end of an income stream from the Heritage Lottery Fund has had a significant effect on the council’s finances, together with the anticipated continuing effects of the pandemic.

The Council says: “The past two years have been particularly difficult for most due to COVID-19 and this coming year is also expected to bring additional pressures as caution remains from the impact of the pandemic.

“The Town Council’s income and the need to support the local community and facilities may continue to be impacted by COVID-19 into 2022/23. This has become more challenging operationally and in reviewing the annual budget, this had to be considered.”

Views need to be submitted in writing by Thursday January 6 and these will be considered at the council’s meeting the following Monday.
