The search for public spirited snow wardens

24/01/2024

Cover is needed in the town centre, Chatsworth Drive estate and in Ruscote and Easington

So far this year we’ve had rain and wind to contend with, but no snow – yet.

Its always better to be safe rather than sorry and so Banbury Town Council is looking to add more volunteers to its roster of snow wardens.

The scheme has been running since 2013 and sees public spirited residents who keep roads where they live free of snow and ice when the winter weather arrives.   They also grit roads and pavements outside their own and their neighbours’ homes on snowy or frosty mornings.

Businesses in the town can get involved by gritting pavements outside their shops and offices.

The Council specifically need more people to come forward to cover the pedestrian areas in the town centre, on the Chatsworth Drive estate, around Hastings Road and Withycombe Drive in Ruscote and on Browning Road in Easington.

Snow wardens receive all the equipment, materials, and training they need.   Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Banbury Town Council on 01295 250340 by email.
