A new initiative to recycle Christmas trees and raise money for a local charity at the same time has proven a winner. Katharine House Hospice joined forces with Acreman’s Arboriculture Ltd in Wigginton offering people the chance to have their real Christmas trees chipped in return for a donation to the Hospice.
The scheme has been declared a huge success after being run as a pilot this year in a limited number of postcodes. It is likely to be extended to other areas next year.

A number of individuals volunteered to drive the vans that collected the trees with Amazon supplying some of the vehicles.
A spokesperson for Katharine House said: “Next year we plan to go even bigger and better with more postcodes, more collections and hopefully even more money raised! So watch this space.”
