Jobs fair a resounding success
08/02/2024
Details of roles across a number of sectors were available
Banbury Jobs and Support Fair took place at Banbury Town Hall today.
Organised by Cherwell District Council and Job Centre Plus, the event offered anyone looking for a new job the chance to meet employers and training providers.
Visitors were able to find out about roles in education, care, warehousing and customer services. Staff from the hospitality, retail, and production businesses sectors also attended.
Banbury’s MP called in at the event and described it as a resounding success.
Victoria Prentis said: “Brita, Cleenol and Timpson (to name but a few businesses) had stalls showcasing their many opportunities. Thames Valley Police were also there actively recruiting for more officers.
“Alongside the many businesses on hand, there were lots of brilliant charities present that help people overcome barriers to work and career progression. I was pleased to speak to representatives from Hft who support people with learning difficulties, as well as Changing Life who help women who have experienced adversity and trauma and Smart Works who provide clothing for interviews.
“Although we can be proud of our extremely low rate of unemployment in Banbury, it is important that regular jobs fairs are held locally to help people discover the many opportunities available.”
