12/02/2024
The agreement takes the circuits association with the event into its ninth decade
Local motor racing fans will continue to have the British Grand Prix on their doorstep at Silverstone after the circuit reached an agreement with Formula 1 to host the race there for another ten years.
Silverstone hosted the first British Grand Prix back in 1950. The new deal extends the circuit’s association with the international event into its ninth decade.
Last July’s Grand Prix saw a record crowd of 480,000 heading to Silverstone across the weekend. Over 60,000 fans camped in the local area.
This year’s event runs from July 4-7 and alongside the biggest names in motorsport those attending will enjoy off-track entertainment with headline performances by music artists including Stormzy and the Kings of Leon.
Stuart Pringle, Chief Executive Officer, Silverstone, said: “This long-term commitment reflects the importance of the British Grand Prix to Formula 1 and their acknowledgement of our ability to deliver a world-class experience for the British fans who are among the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable in the world.
“The cheers of support for the home teams, and particularly for the British drivers on the grid, makes the Silverstone atmosphere unique and I am looking forward to harnessing this passion for our sport and taking the event to the next level in the coming decade.”
