04/03/2024
Items such as mobile phones have been taken in recent thefts
We’re being warned about an increase in distraction thefts which have been taking place in cafes and restaurants around our area.
In this latest spate the same tactics have been used to steal items such as mobile phones.
Usually a lone male will approach the table where people are sat and put down a piece of paper. He then asks for money. Sometimes the offender will further distract a person by touching their arm.
They then take the paper and move on. After this items are spotted as missing.
Thames Valley Police advise people to be aware and cautious if they are approached by anybody in similar circumstances.
Officers are currently collating CCTV images of the offenders with a few to trying to identify those involved.
