Search for people to fill vital roles at Banbury United

Volunteers sought as the club faces “unprecedented opportunities and challenges”
Banbury United is seeking volunteers to take on a number of crucial roles at the club.
Chairman Ronnie Johnson announced he would be standing down at the end of the season during the club’s AGM in December.
The Puritans also need people to take on the roles of Fixture Manager and Club Secretary – Mr Johnson has also been undertaking a number of the tasks associated with these roles.
So far no club members have come forward to take on the role of Chairman. With just a few weeks to go until the end of the season an appeal has been made for a volunteer from the wider community.
Whoever takes on the role faces what the club describes as “unprecedented opportunities and challenges”, with a potential ground move and the need to raise significant funds to construct a new stadium. To achieve this the club is suggesting “a complete rethink and debate about the way the Club is owned, structured and operated”.
The new Chair will be supported by a board of at least six volunteer board members and a management team, which operates the Club on a daily basis.
Mr Johnson said: “… to any prospective candidates out there … Banbury United is a wonderful and supportive collective of sponsors and volunteers demonstrating hard work, commitment, support and true heart to get behind our home-town club. This is something I have attempted to do either directly or indirectly – as a player, Chairman, board member, volunteer, sponsor and supporter – over the past 50 years plus.”
Of the other vacancies at the club, the role of Fixture manager needs to be filled by a person who can co-ordinate all the activities on matchday during the game.
The Club Secretary will support the Board with general administration and the club suggests that a local business might be willing to donate some of their staff time for this role – a model they already have working well for the bookkeeping and accounts functions.
Volunteers should email clairedumbreck@banburyunitedfc.co.uk or ronniejohnson@banburyunitedfc.co.uk.
