Fatal M40 crash discovered a week after it happened

Sadly a man in his 40s lost his life
A man lost his life following an accident on the M40 north of Banbury a week ago, but the accident was only discovered yesterday – seven days after its believed to have happened.
The crash between junctions 11 and 12 resulted in the motorway being closed for several hours yesterday afternoon (April 12).
Emergency services were called to a report of a black Vauxhall Astra car in the central reservation on a section of the motorway north of Banbury, where a wooded area separates the two carriageways.
The police’s initial investigations have led them to believe the accident happened at around 4.20am on Tuesday 5 April.
A man in his forties was found to have died. His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Investigating officer, PC Charlie Etheridge, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for any witnesses, or motorists who may have dash-cam footage, of the incident to please come forward.
“Although this was reported to us yesterday, we believe it may have happened at around 4.20am on 5 April.
“Anyone who has information or dash-cam footage can make a report by calling 101 or via our website, quoting reference 43220157746.”
