Parts of Grimsbury experienced a power cut on Tuesday afternoon due to a fire at a sub-station.  Supplies went just after 3pm with 1,031 properties affected.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue crews from Banbury and Hook Norton were called to Ferguson Road at 3.13pm.   They used a carbon monoxide extinguisher to put out a small fire in the sub-station.

Engineers from National Grid managed to restore the power to 604 properties shortly before 4pm.   The remainder of the properties were brought back online shortly after 5pm.

The cause of the fire is unknown but is not being treated as deliberate.

A spokesperson for National Grid said: “We’re sorry for the disruption and would like to thank customers for their patience while we worked to reconnect them.”
