Gas supplies restored to some homes on flooded network
03/07/2024
Engineers have started safety check and turning the gas back on
There’s some good news today for people in the Hardwick area of Banbury who’ve been without gas since Saturday, when flood water entered the gas supply pipes.
Southern Gas Networks has removed all of the water from their network in High Furlong, Woodfield, and Windrush.
This means they now have gas available in the pipes on these roads. Engineers have begun visiting properties to carry out essential safety checks and reinstate supplies.
There are still pockets of water in the pipes in other locations such as Evenlode, Sinclair Avenue, Portway, Danesmoor, and Chetwode and specialist equipment is being used to locate and extract it.
The Southern Gas Networks Customer Service Team are in the Ruscote Community Centre again today, until 8 this evening, to answer any questions and offer support.
