“This case provides a clear example of how we are taking action against individuals who are displaying continuous offending”

A prolific Banbury offender has been sentenced to eight months in a young offenders institution after he was found guilty of a string of charges, including burglary, fraud and driving offences.

18-year-old Jack Mobey of Wimborne Avenue appeared at Oxford Magistrates Court on July 31.

On April 6 he burgled an address in Ruscote Avenue.   Then on April 30 Mobey drove a stolen Hyundai Matrix on the Aynho Road while disqualified from driving.

A month later on May 31 Mobey stole a chainsaw, angle grinder and batteries from Southam Road Cemetery.   Then, three days later he spent £67.79 in One Stop on Warwick Road on a stolen bank card.

Mobey was found guilty of two counts of burglary and pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation, driving whilst disqualified, receiving stolen goods and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

In addition to eight months in a young offenders institution Mobey was also ordered to pay compensation.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Sophie Smith, of the Priority Crime Team based at Banbury police station, said: “This case provides a clear example of how we are taking action against individuals who are displaying continuous offending.

“Jack Mobey has been brought to our attention numerous times over the last few months and has shown a complete disregard of the implications of his behaviour.

“Mobey’s crimes have impacted negatively on the lives of many people within our community and I hope this result allows them some form of comfort and closure.”
