Its hoped work to rectify the problems will be completed by October 5

Brackley Town Council has closed the town’s new skatepark after an inspection found glass and other potentially dangerous debris in the topsoil surrounding the facility.

Earlier this week signs appeared asking users to stay off the mounds around the skatepark.  Now it has been completely closed and fencing erected to stop users gaining access.

The Council says the closure is temporary and hopes work to rectify the problems will be completed in the next two weeks.

In a statement a spokesperson said: “The skatepark will be temporarily closed while work is being carried out for the safety of users and visitors to the facility. Anyone who attempts to breach the fence during this time does so at their own risk.

“Barring any further developments, the work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 24 September, and to be completed on Saturday, 5 October. We want to express our gratitude to the users of the skatepark for their continued cooperation.”
