Gladman Developments want to build on farmland on the Tadmarton Road
An outline planning application to build up to 60 houses on the Tadmarton Road in Bloxham has been refused – for a second time.
Gladman Developments want to build the homes on farmland between the new housing opposite Bloxham Primary School and Park Farm.
They first submitted an application last year, which received over 180 letters of objection including that of Bloxham Parish Council. Councillors agreed with the officer’s recommendation to reject the application on the grounds of its scale and the cumulative impact of growth already carried out in Bloxham. It was noted that those living in such a location would be predominantly reliant on private cars to carry out their day-to-day activities.
The applicant wasn’t happy with the decision and appealed to the Planning Inspectorate. The appeal is due to be heard next week, but in the meantime Gladman submitted a second application. That application was discussed at a meeting of Cherwell’s Planning Committee last night (Thursday), ahead of next week’s appeal.
Councillors unanimously voted against the scheme, following the officer’s recommendation.
The latest application has received limited public response. This is partly down to last night’s decision having to be made before the closing date for comments, so the Planning Committee’s current view can be included in next week’s Planning Inspectorate hearing.
