Armed officers arrest man in Upper Heyford

Police worked with nearby Heyford Park School as the arrest took place
Armed officers from Thames Valley Police were sent to Upper Heyford yesterday afternoon to arrest a man on suspicion of possession of a firearm. Local people witnessed the officers on Camp Road.
Police worked with staff at the nearby Heyford Park School before and after the arrest and have sought to quash social media speculation that the school was put into “lockdown”.
In addition to the firearms offence the individual was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and criminal damage.
Following the arreest officers carried out patrols in the area to reassure the public.
