College students car washing and sponsored walking for Katharine House
25/10/2024
They are hoping to raise £3,500
Students from Banbury and Bicester College are raising funds for the Katharine House Hospice over the next couple of days.
The students are on the college’s Public Services course, which aims to arm young people with the necessary skills to pass the entrance tests for a career in one of the public services – such as the police, fire, prison or court service, or the military.
Today they have organised a Car Wash at the college’s Broughton Road site. Vehicle owners are encouraged to visit before 3pm today to get their cars cleaned in return for a £10 donation.
Tomorrow a group of 50 students will be heading off on a coach to London to complete a 10km walk around London. They have chosen a circular route, setting off from the Oval.
So far the group has raised £1,000 and is hoping to lift that total to £3,500.
Sixteen-year-old Benjamin Jordan is one of those involved. He said: “We wanted to help a local charity and we selected Katharine House.”
