Tracey Kovacs is preparing to welcome Halloween guests for a time of year she loves

Banbury’s scariest house is preparing to welcome fright night guests once again this Halloween.

This will be the fourth year Tracey Kovacs has set up her Tunnel Of Terror at 75 The Fairway.   The experience includes a child friendly area, live actors, animated figures, spooky lighting and scary objects.

Tracey, with help from her family and friends, has spent the last five weeks building the experience.   “I love it,” she said.  “I don’t drink and I don’t smoke.   This is my one thing and I absolutely enjoy it.”

Each year the Tunnel of Terror is developed with additions including five new animatronics this time, along with a couple of different areas and sections moved around from previous years.

“My favourite thing is Derek The Werewolf because the kids adore him,” said Tracey.   “He’s quite scary, but they all adore him.”

There’s no charge to visit the Tunnel of Terror, but Tracey does ask for voluntary donations.   This year all cash collected will be donated to Bliss, a charity which campaigns to give every baby born premature or sick the best chance of survival and quality of life.

Tracey said: “My niece chose Bliss because 11 years ago she went into premature labour with her twins at 26 weeks.   We nearly lost all three of them (her as well) and she chose this charity.”

The Tunnel of Terror will be open from 4.30pm on Halloween (Thursday) and 5pm on Friday and Saturday.   People living near by can expect to hear plenty of screams.

“We get loads”, said Tracey.   “I don’t want to be sexist, but its mainly the men.

“Quite often they can’t even get out of the kid friendly bit, and then ‘I don’t want to go through there’.   And the young kids are saying, ‘Oh, come on, it’ll be alright’!”
