Halloween advice for those joining in and those who aren’t
31/10/2024
Some people can find trick or treaters intimidating
Its Halloween and around the area people are preparing for a night of fun, but Thames Valley Police are reminding those going out trick or treating that not everyone likes Halloween or having trick or treaters call at their door.
The force has made available a poster which can be printed and displayed asking trick or treaters to stay away.
For those joining in the advice is to stay in groups and only visit the homes of people you know well, or who are clearly displaying Halloween decorations.
Police officers will be conducting extra patrols around the Halloween period. Those who are worried shouldn’t open their door if they are unsure who is there. Using a spyhole or looking out of a window first to see who is calling is suggested, and using a door chain if the door is opened.
The force also suggest having the contact number of a close relative, friend or good neighbour to hand by the telephone, in case their help is needed.
In Kings Sutton villagers have created a Halloween Trick or Treat Village Map. This aims to keep both people in their homes and trick-or-treaters safe, allowing those joining in to plan a trail and only visit houses that are taking part.
Larger organised events are taking place with the Tunnel of Terror open this evening in Banbury on the Fairway and Brackley’s Horror House is welcoming visitors on Orion Drive.
