Brackley Remembers
11/11/2024
The town’s Remembrance Sunday event took place on Sunday afternoon
Brackley fell silent on Remembrance Sunday afternoon to remember the fallen from conflicts around the world.
A long parade of service personnel, civic dignitaries, veterans and members of the town’s clubs and organisations were led by the Laidlaw Memorial Banbury and District Pipe Band from Winchester House school to the war memorial outside Brackley Town Hall.
Hundreds of people watched and then joined in with the annual open-air service, which was led by the Reverend Sara Cliff and the Reverend Rich Duncan.
Brackley and District Band accompanied the service, with the names of the fallen read as wreathes were placed around the war memorial.
Following the sounding of the Last Post the town fell silent for two minutes.
The service concluded with the singing of both the British and American National Anthems, in recognition of the town’s links with the American service personnel at RAF Croughton.
