A number of events have been held for Armistice Day
106 years after the guns fell silent at the end of the 1st World War, around the Banbury FM area people marked Armistice Day earlier, by observing two minutes silence in memory of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts around the world.
In Banbury shortly before 11am people gathered in People’s Park. Members of the Royal British Legion bore their standards as members of the public collected around the War Memorial.
Banbury Royal British Legion Chaplin, the Reverend Lynda Spokes, led a short Service during which Councillor Keiron Mallon, the Banbury branch’s President, laid a wreath.
As 11am approached Chris Smithson said the Royal British Legion Ode and then buglers Mike Neal and Chris Page played the last post before the silence was observed.
