20mph decision for Hooky, Claydon and Hornton
13/11/2024
The three villages are the latest to be considered for the County Council rollout
Hook Norton, Claydon and Horton will become the latest places to have 20mph speed limits implemented on village roads, if agreed at a meeting tomorrow.
Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport Management, Councillor Andrew Gant, is being recommended to approve the plans.
In Hook Norton an online survey on the proposals received 87 responses with 55 of those objections. A further 11 partially supported the idea and 20 backed the scheme.
Stagecoach buses noted that Hook Norton had been an accident hot-spot for them for several years due to road widths, which aren’t suitable for a bus. Whilst they didn’t object to the reduction to a 20 mph limit they felt it was unlikely to change the risk for them.
At the same meeting 20 mph limits will also be considered for Claydon and Hornton.
