Plan submitted for commercial units on land that had been intended for housing
21/11/2024
The emerging new local plan appears to support the change
A planning application has been submitted to build ten commercial units and car parking on land which had been allocated for new housing in Grimsbury.
In the current local plan the site off Higham Way, along with the Grundon Waste Management site, had been earmarked for up to 150 homes. In 2016 an outline application to build 200 dwellings was submitted, but subsequently withdrawn. The land next to the Grundon site has remained unused.
Existing housing lies to the east and north of the development on Marshall Road and Verney Road.
The applicant, E5 Commercial, says the proposals will have no negative social impact but will have a positive employment benefit.
The new local plan, which isn’t yet finalised, backs this up indicating the site would be better used as employment land.
