These are the latest details on how our area us managing after Storm Bert
UPDATED: 11.20am
TRAINS:
- Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Banbury and Bicester North trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines.
BUSES:
- Stagecoach S4 – will only be able to serve main road Adderbury.
- The 200 service is Cancelled due to flooding on the A361 between Wardington and Chipping Warden.
- The bus station is still flooded and this means that all bus services will be running from Bridge Street.
POWER:
- A power cut was affecting parts of Hardwick in Banbury. The incident was reported at 5.15am and 155 properties were without electricity close to Hardwick primary school. National Grid restored supplies will be restored at 9.25am.
- 368 homes were also without power around the Kings Sutton area. Supplies were reported as down at 5.23am with all apart from 26 restored at 8.35am.
ROADS:
- On the A361 people are being sent back towards Banbury or back towards Wardington due to a flood at the bottom of the hill.
- A422 flooded at Middleton Cheney.
- Between Twyford and Kings Sutton the road is flooded closes to Cherwell Valley Silos.
RIVERS:
- Property flooding is expected at places along the River Cherwell from just south of Banbury to Lower Heyford. A warning is in place here (with properties on Wales Street at Kings Sutton are most at risk). The flood defences north of the town are holding much of the water away from Banbury itself.
- A red flood alert is in place for the River Great Ouse at Brackley. The areas most at risk are Mill Road in Whitfield, Turweston Mill, and in Brackley – Mill Lane, Buckingham Road, Boundary Road, Willow Road and Shires Road.
- Another alert is in force for the Sor Brook with property at risk closest to the river in Bodicote, and downstream where the Sor Brook and Bloxham Brook meet in Adderbury. Levels on the Bloxham Brook have now dropped below the flood risk theshold.
SCHOOLS CLOSED:
- Bloxham Primary
- Cropredy Church of England Primary School
- The Wykham Park Academy site is closed for all students. The Futures Institute is open as usual.
THE MILL ARTS CENTRE:
- The Mill says all activities taking place in the building today and tomorrow are cancelled. They will contact the affected ticket holders with more information about their booking. They are assessing the situation and will ussyed further updates once the flooding has receded.
