Three e-scooters seized during crackdown operation

Three e-scooters were seized by the Banbury Neighbourhood Policing Team last Saturday during an operation to clamp down on illegal usage in Banbury.
E-scooters are classed as motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act 1988, meaning you need a licence and insurance to ride one in public.
It’s not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters, making it illegal for them to be used on the road or in public spaces, such as parks, street pavements, and shopping centres.
Anyone using a privately-owned e-scooter in public risks having it seized.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “E-Scooter enforcement continues to be a priority for local communities and we will continue to run operations like this in future.”
Special Constables joined the Banbury Neighbourhood Team for the operation, which also caught three shoplifters and two vehicles being driven with no insurance and committing other traffic related offences.
