Parking proposals to address commuters blocking village streets

People have been leaving their cars in Adderbury then heading to Oxford
Parking restrictions could be brought in on a number of roads in Adderbury to deter commuters who are leaving their vehicles in the village before sharing lifts or using public transport to head to Oxford.
Oxfordshire County Council has begun a consultation on measures designed to ensure there is adequate parking for residents.
The proposals show a stretch of the road alongside the village Green designated as limited to a maximum two hour stay from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. A similar restriction would be introduced on the High Street close to Croft Lane.

In addition parking infront of the village’s shop would be limited to 30 minutes.
Elsewhere, in Bloxham parking restrictions are proposed for sections of Courtington Lane, close to the High Street. Double yellow lines and single yellow lines for daytime restrictions are suggested as a way of deterring dangerous and unsafe parking. The measures have been suggested at the request of local residents, with poor parking resulting in difficulties for refuse vehicles, lorries and emergency vehicles not being able to get through.

The consultation is open until March 7.

And who is going to enforce it? Double yellows on The Rise and single yellow with sign prohibiting school drop off is routinely ignored. Parents/Carers also park in the bus stops. It’s a joke. These parents care only about the safety of their own kids. Nothing is enforced, despite many complaints. Why bother putting more. How on earth are you going to police 30 minute parking outside Adderbury Shops – are we getting our own parking warden? No, thought not. Pointless!
