Sean Woodcock wants to understand the challenges businesses are facing
Banbury’s MP has written to local businesses which import and export outside the UK, inviting them to share details of the challenges they face and their concerns following the implementation of new tariffs on international trade to America.
A 10 percent baseline tariff on goods heading to the US from the UK came into effect for most goods on April 5. A higher 25 percent tariff is in place on vehicles and light trucks, aluminium and steel.
In his letter to local businesses Sean Woodcock invited them to share their concerns so he can understand their challenges and the barriers they are facing.
He wrote: “As the international situation changes rapidly, I want to understand the challenges for local companies that engage in international trade. I would be grateful for your thoughts in writing. Alternatively, I would be very happy to arrange a conversation or visit, if a suitable time can be found.”
The letter concluded: “In my view, understanding the barriers to businesses, and speaking up for local firms, are important parts of an MP’s role, and I would like to be of assistance, if I can.”
Any businesses who haven’t been contacted but who do have concerns are invited to get in touch by emailing Mr Woodcock: [email protected].
