The council is in contact with the company’s management

If JDE go ahead with their proposal to completely close their Banbury operation Cherwell District Council want the site to remain earmarked for employment, not housing.

The Council has confirmed to Banbury FM they are in contact with the company’s management.   They said that whilst the future of the former coffee factory was ultimately a matter for JDE the council would be supportive of efforts to market it and attract new investment and employment opportunities to the site.

JDE are currently undertaking a consultation with the remaining Banbury staff over the proposed full closure of their Banbury facility.   A final decision will be taken once this is complete.

A spokesperson for Cherwell District Council said: “We are committed to retaining the JDE Peet’s site as employment land and are in contact with the company’s management in offering a range of assistance.

“Any sale or letting of the site will ultimately be a matter for the current owners but the facility has great potential for new operators, and the council will be supportive of efforts to market it and attract new investment and employment opportunities to the site.”
