Businesses breathe life back to vandalised garden area

A safe, accessible, and serene space has been created for Banbury Community Support Services
The garden at Banbury Community Support Services on Neithrop Avenue has today reopened after a local company stepped in to transform the area when it fell into disrepair.
In February last year vandals caused around £2,500 worth of damage to a polytunnel in the garden. After that the once cherished garden space became unusable.
The service’s charity arm, The Friends of Redlands, reached out to the community for help to bring the area back life and a local company, Milestone, offered to rebuild the garden at no cost.
In just one week, their team created a safe, accessible, and serene space, and then continued to support the project by painting fences.
Ball Colegrave and Nicholsons gave seeds and plants for the transformation and HSBC staff supplied additional manpower.
The new garden is now fully wheelchair accessible, featuring raised beds and tranquil corners.
Jen Farrell, Service Manager at Banbury CSS, said: “This garden is more than a space: it’s a symbol of what we can achieve when we come together.
“It reflects the compassion and determination of everyone involved, from volunteers to local businesses.”
Banbury Community Support Services provides day support for adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, dementia, autism, and age-related conditions.
