Latest application submitted for fishing lake close to Wroxton

A similar application was refused last year
A new planning application has been submitted to create a fishing / sailing lake on a green field site just outside Wroxton.
A previous application for the same site was refused last November. That sought to create two fishing lakes and build accommodation lodges.
The latest application is for one lake of approximately 43,000 square metres with 48 fishing pegs. Alongside this would be a 460 square metre maintenance building, car parking for 71 vehicles and a storage area for 24 small sailing boats.
The site, which is currently farmland, is approximately 9.2 hectares in size with an area historically used for Motocross directly to the north.
Access would be off the Stratford Road, close to the Indian Queen restaurant.
Last year Councillors rejected the previous scheme, expressing concerns that the site is in a location which would rely on private cars for access and represented an unsustainable form of development in the open countryside.
The latest submission includes a comment from the applicant noting: “The proposal represents sustainable development as defined on the [Planning Policy] Framework which would give rise to direct employment and additional spend in the local economy.”
Cherwell District Council is aiming to make a decision on whether permission should be granted by November 14.
