Inspectors also commended the council’s person-centred approach
Oxfordshire County Council’s adult social care service has been rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection in January 2025.
The CQC praised the council’s Oxfordshire Way vision, which supports people to live independently in their communities, and highlighted strong partnerships with the NHS and voluntary sector. Inspectors also commended the council’s person-centred approach and improvements in safeguarding.
Councillor Tim Bearder, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, congratulated everyone involved in achieving the outcome.
He said: “The report highlights our clear vision for adult social care in Oxfordshire and the strong partnerships that help us to keep improving services for residents. This rating reflects a well-integrated service working at scale with NHS and social care partners.
“I also want to recognise the dedication of our care workers. Their commitment is absolutely central to this rating.”
Other strengths included effective reablement services, with 77% of people regaining independence after hospital discharge, and well-managed transitions for young people into adulthood.
This latest rating follows the council’s children’s services also being graded ‘good’ by Ofsted in April 2024.
