An appeal has been launched to raise £40,000 to pay for repairs to a children’s play area in Bodicote.

The Kingsfield children’s playground was closed due to safety concerns a couple of weeks ago.

The playground, field and village hall are looked after by the Bodicote Welfare Charity and they now face huge costs for the repairs.   These are mainly needed to the floor and surface, which was laid in 2008.

The charity has launched a GoFundMe appeal to help raise the money to cover the costs and are inviting local businesses to sponsor the restoration, emphasizing the playground’s role as a vital space for children’s play, friendship, and memories in the community.

Zoe Harvy, a local parent, said: “Bodicote Park isn’t just a park, it’s where our children come together.   Every day after school it’s full of play and laughter, and for kids it’s the only chance they get to see friends outside the classroom.

“It’s always felt like a safe, loved space for our families, and the children are heartbroken that it’s closed.”
