Request for Thorpe Way parking restrictions to control lorries

Local residents face safety issues when traffic is reduced to a single lane
The issue of parked lorries near Banbury residential streets which cause problems for local residents has been taken up by the town’s MP.
Sean Woodcock has urged Oxfordshire County Council to introduce double yellow lines on Overthorpe Road, near the Thorpe Way industrial estate, to stop overnight parking by lorries and HGVs.
He said parked vehicles often obstructed the road between the Ermont Road roundabout and the estate entrance, reducing traffic to a single lane and creating safety risks for motorists and residents.
Mr Woodcock has written to Councillor Andrew Gant, the Cabinet Member for Transport Management at Oxfordshire County Council, calling for the implementation of double yellow lines prohibiting parking outside the industrial estate on Overthorpe Road.
He said: “As a local resident, I have myself experienced some of these issues that have also been highlighted by other local people. This problem has persisted for far too long, and safety concerns from local road users and residents must be taken seriously.
“I hope that Oxfordshire County Council also takes these matters seriously and can fix this issue for local people.”
