Meeting to address flooding concerns from new Bloxham housing site

24/11/2025

The site is the village’s preferred location for new housing

Residents in Bloxham who’ve been worried about flooding from a potential new housing development are invited to a public meeting this evening.

The proposed site for 125 new homes at Painters Farm, east of the Tadmarton Road, is included within Bloxham’s new draft Neighbourhood Plan as the village’s preferred site for new housing.

But in a public consultation, villagers – including some in Courtington Lane – noted the flooding problems caused (in part) due to run-off from Hobbs Hill, behind the proposed new development.

The Parish Council is keen to formalise the Neighbourhood Plan.   They hope this will provide some defence against the speculative developments that are currently being submitted around the village.   In a statement in September they said: “The Council acknowledges that the Plan is currently still in draft form, but is mindful that if it is not progressed soon, including a preferred site, the village will be wide open to further speculative developments, in addition to those which already have permission on Ells Lane and South Newington Road and the likely approval of Quarry Close and Barford Road.

This evening’s public meeting is being held in the Ex-Servicemen’s Hall from 7.15pm.   It aims to address the concerns over flooding caused by the Painters Farm proposed site.  A water management consultant will attend the meeting to present the proposed ways of mitigating any problems.
