The village hall has been opened up for those not able to go home
Residents of a street in Kings Sutton have been evacuated from their homes after a suspicious item was reported to the police at breakfast time today.
This afternoon members of the bomb disposal team are in Dairy Ground, along with a crew from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and officers from Northants Police.
Around 40 properties are affected, with their residents offered refuge in the village’s Millenium Memorial Hall.
Sarah lives just outside the area where people aren’t being allowed into their homes. She said: “I was just walking past from my nan’s and police cars were here. We were told the evacuation line was by my house.
“They couldn’t go into detail but something’s happened – then the bomb squad turned up.
“They’ve opened up the Memorial Hall at the moment for residents who’ve been evacuated from their houses.”
A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman told Banbury FM: “Police officers were called to an address in Dairy Ground, Kings Sutton, at about 8.30am this morning (December 23) to reports of a suspicious item.
“Local residents have been evacuated as a precautionary measure whilst the EOD respond to the incident however, we are satisfied that there is no wider risk to members of the public.”

Whilst the whole episode, may have been for caution and in the best intentions. It would be worth noting after investigation, There was Nothing found to be Dangerous at the property and No Charges brought against the tenant! .. A case of Better Safe than Sorry but No One Reports The outcome !!! as Scary Headlines generate more interest.
