Garden waste subscription renewals now due
14/01/2026

The cost of the service has risen to £59 this year
People in the Cherwell district who want to have their garden waste collected after March now need to renew, or purchase, a garden waste subscription.
The price of the service has risen to £59 – up from £49 last year.
Registrations for the new year are now open.
After subscribing customers will receive a welcome pack with a subscription licence label which can be attached to the brown garden waste bin.
Collected garden waste is taken to an Oxfordshire composting site where it is treated and broken down. After a few months, the finished compost is then used by local farmers on their land.
Councillor Ian Middleton, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services, said: “The cheapest and most sustainable way to deal with garden waste is to compost it at home. But if you’re not able to do that, our kerbside collection service is an easy and hassle-free way to ensure all that useful organic matter doesn’t go to waste. All you need to do is place your clippings and leaves in your brown bin, and we’ll deal with it in our central composting facility. It’s convenient, sustainable, and one less thing to worry about as you get your garden looking gorgeous.
“To maintain a high-quality service, we’ve had to introduce a modest increase to £59 per year, to cover rising operational and fuel costs. Even with this change, our fees remain comparable to most neighbouring councils and still cheaper than some. We are committed to providing a convenient, sustainable service for our community and for the planet.”
