Banbury groups receive cash for extreme weather event projects

Bridge Street Community Garden and Banbury Community Action Group received the money
Two Banbury organisations have been awarded funding to help them with projects that address the impacts of extreme weather events.
Banbury Community Action Group plan to hold a film night and workshop to raise awareness of the need for community resilience and climate adaptation measures.
Funds awarded to the Bridge Street Community Garden will be used to upgrade their rainwater harvesting system.
Oxfordshire County Council provided £12,00 of funding which was awarded to eleven groups across the county by Community Action Groups Oxfordshire.
The grants ranged from £100 to £1,700.
Katherine Chesson, Director of CAG Oxfordshire, said: “Community groups are at the heart of ensuring that Oxfordshire’s residents are resilient to the impacts of climate change, such as extreme weather events.
“From rainwater harvesting at community gardens to raising awareness of local emergency plans, we’re proud to support these fantastic groups to deliver locally led resilience work.”
