Its hoped the result will be less money spent on energy and more on frontline services
The Horton General Hospital is set to receive £719,443 to fund clean power upgrades.
Government cash is being provided to nearly 200 NHS sites across the country, jointly delivered alongside Great British Energy.
The Adderbury Resource Centre will also receive £106,830 as part of the project.
The announcement, made yesterday, builds on Great British Energy’s solar for schools and hospitals programme with the aim of seeing less money wasted on energy bills and more resources going back into frontline services.
It’s estimated the measures will save the NHS nearly £30 million on energy bills annually.
Banbury’s MP, Sean Woodcock, welcomed the news. He said: “This fantastic investment by Great British Energy in our area will mean the NHS spending less money on energy bills and more resources being directed into the thing that really matters – frontline services.
“Through Great British Energy, Labour is delivering energy security, investing in our public services and delivering lower bills for our communities.”
Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband, added: “We’re investing in clean power for the NHS so more money can go back into frontline services.
“This is our clean power mission in action – cutting bills, investing in our communities, and providing energy security for our country.”
